THE BEER TASTING GEEK AWARD

One of the highlights of the BrewDog Beer Geek Awards last year was the unique cross-continental contest to discover Europe’s best Beer Tasting Geek. Hundreds of people headed to dozens of BrewDog Bars on one single night to partake in a truly epic mass beer tasting. We had so much fun uncovering those with next-level beer palates that we are doing it all again next week – in the UK, across Europe and in every one of our bars in the United States.

Just book online, and then head to one of our bars between 6 and 7:30pm on Tuesday June 19th (full list of bars below) and you will be handed eight mystery beers by our Cicerone-trained bar crews. The challenge is to determine the specific beer style for each sample – we have picked styles that are widely available but it will definitely put your beery know-how to the test!

Answer a tie-break teaser and ensure you submit your answers through the form online. The top ten scorers in the UK/Europe and top ten in the US will be invited to the Beer Geek Awards Ceremony in London or Columbus and go head-to-head (or palate-to-palate) once again to determine the overall Beer Tasting Geek for Europe and the US.

Classic styles of craft beer are the bedrock of our industry, and being able to identify them without any input other than from what your senses are telling you can be fascinating. Plus it strengthens and broadens your knowledge at the same time, and your appreciation of the hard work and long hours put in by the men and women in breweries up and down the country (and further afield).

Speaking of which, the BrewDog Bars hosting a round of the 2018 Beer Tasting Geek heats are as follows. You can pick up your tickets right here and then head to any UK BrewDog Bar (including DogTap Ellon), all three of our bars in the US (DogTap Columbus, Franklinton and Short North) and the following European BrewDog Bars - Barcelona, Bologna, Brussels, Berlin, Firenze, Goteborg, Helsinki, Kungsholmen, Malmo, Oslo, Södermalm, Rome and Tallinn. Remember to submit your answers through the online form.

If you come out on top of the first round and then make it through to the live final, you’ll have your beery credentials tested to the limit and will be a true beer geek! Plus, if you are crowned victorious you’ll score an epic prize – the European Beer Tasting Geek will receive travel and tickets to the world-renowned MASH Festival in Barcelona and the US victor will head to the GABF in Denver!

Don’t forget there are six other categories in the 2018 BrewDog Beer Geek Awards and time is running out to enter – we are scheduled to close entries on Wednesday June 20th – the day after the Beer Tasting Geek contest. So if you consider yourself a beer geek and want to be crowned as such, you only have the long weekend to prove it!
