MAKING OUR BEER HOTEL TRULY EPIC

MAKING OUR BEER HOTEL TRULY EPIC

If you walked through the doors of a craft beer hotel, what would you want to discover inside? We’re not talking hypothetically here – the awesome DogHouse Columbus is taking shape next to our Ohio brewery, and as the world’s first crowdfunded craft beer hotel and sour brewery it will have all manner of cool shit inside. But we are building it for you. So let us know what epic features we should install.

Because if we use your idea, we’ll reward you with a FREE night’s accommodation there!

Since our Columbus beer-themed hotel and sour facility topped out at a frankly incredible 433% Funded on IndieGoGo we have set to work on getting the DogHouse built – and we are hoping to open the doors to the first guests next summer. Plenty of time to pimp it to the max.

Currently our hotel will feature:-

· Punk IPA on tap in every room
· Minibars of epic beer curated by James and Martin
· En-suite bathrooms with shower-beer fridges
· Craft beer-themed dining in our pairing restaurant
· A Punk IPA Jacuzzi (no, really)
· Malted Barley Massages, Hop Facemasks and other treatments
· Views of our fermenting foeders from every room

Sound good? We thought so. So if you have an idea just as amazing, let’s hear it!

Add your idea below as a comment or hit us up by tweeting @BrewDogUSA on social media. It could be anything; with the DogHouse roof still to go on literally the sky’s the limit. So whether you figure homebrew kits should be in every room, the wallpaper should be spun from hop leaves or Chocolate Malt should be in the cereal selection at breakfast then we want to hear about it.

Nothing is too crazy, no ideas are too small. After all, we gave away the recipes of every beer we ever made, so it’s only fair we should outsource the features of our hotel to the people who will be enjoying it. Don’t forget – any idea we use will score that person a FREE night’s stay at the DogHouse. So get thinking! What would you like to see in a BrewDog Hotel?

Ability to create your own cask -- pick a beer on tap, pick additives, and it'll be casked for you. You can take it home with a recommended aging time.

Definitely somehow integrate with untappd - maybe rewards for checking in there if you're staying?

Love the design your own label idea. Maybe like the coke bottles -- a name or something.

Spent grain pretzels are delicious, they'd be a great welcome item too.

How about a beer swap shop/cooler in the lobby? People will be visiting from all around the country and no doubt the world. People could bring a local brew, bottle or can, and swap it, one for one, with one left by a previous guest. It would be the worlds ultimate beer fridge/souvenir stop!
Christopher K 17.01.2018 @ 11:35pm
Super Pretzels available 24/7 in the lobby (similar to how some hotels have fresh cookies available in the lobby); because pretzels and beer go together.

Have bar and game room with pool table darts tv's a d u pay for an entry and u get 4 pints and and 4 hours in the room

Love Adam's idea of hangover room service. Would be cool if all the hygiene products were beer. Beer soap, hops shampoo, etc.

Also, like the idea of a "Design Your Own Label Station" where you could make your own label. Maybe it's an app? You could add a photo, add text, work within a template. Get it printed and put on a bottle to take home as a souvenir. Guests could order it on the app and it could be ready to go at check-out.

Umm... BEER WATERBED

Greenhouse to teach youth or visitors about the growing process.

Beer cheese bar (hot dogs, bread, french fries, etc.).

Create an app that works as a companion and journal of your stay (and keeps record of your multiple stays).
Which beers you had. Pictures you took. People you met.
Plus, if you use beacons, you can give an overall better experience to us. Unlocking updated information as users moves through the hotel.
For example, give an introduction to the room ammenities as you enter the room the first time (like the curated beers in the minibar). The specials when you enter the bar or the brewery. Things to do in Columbus as you walk out the door. What parts of the hotel you havent visited yet. A reminder of what you did in your last visit.

I'm a little late to the party… but I'm an avid gardener so an on site greenhouse or garden where you grow vegetables for the restaurant and hops (if possible!) that visitors could walk through or picnic in would be awesome.

How about using your spent grain when making fresh bread & buns for the breakfast menu?
Or installing dumb-waiters (I hope you know what that is) for each room to deliver the guests' fav brews directly to their room?
Or a giant waterslide, complete with twists and turns, that delivers guests into a pool full of PUNK IPA?
Or a fitness room on one of the higher floors with gigantic windows overlooking the brewhouse? (motivation to workout to the max!)
Or in-room safes that have a charging plug already inside the safe so you can recharge your electronics in a secure location?
Or a BrewDog Library (Cellar) where guests can enjoy special BrewDog brews from years past...aka cellared BrewDog?
Or an alarm clock in every room with the alarm sound "pshhttt....glug, glug, glug, glug, glug!"? :)

Part of the events can be used to mingle so that fellow influencers (who'd otherwise possibly never get to meet) can engage with each other - which is something that the CraftBeer community takes pride in! A craft beer taster station at the reception desk, with a dedicated team member serving snifters to queuing guests, allowing them to sample the full range available at the bar before they've even checked in. It will save time ordering room service and when ordering at the bar, and will make a great many queuing people a lot more relaxed about waiting their turn... Win - winner - winning.

Oh, and Hot Scothies available in the bar!
Rachel Fausett 21.12.2017 @ 3:22am
You should add a sensory blind tasting area for R&D beers but also the regular ones to have people test their palate and give notes on the beers. Would be fun and also offer some notes to the brewers. And if someone got the whole sheet correct, they get a free beer.
Steve 21.12.2017 @ 2:57am
Since BrewDog is from Scotland, have an annual Scottish festival or Highland games expo. Live music, bag pipes, beer, kilts, beer sampling, Scotch sampling, haggis, Irn-Bru, the whole bit.

You could take a literal shit on other mass produced beers by having them as toilet water. But above all, have Aberdeen’s Buffalo Chicken Wings with the Blue Cheese dip in the menu. I fucking love those.

Minor touch, but the single use lotion, soap and hair items in the bathrooms should contain hop/malt or other beer scents/themes. Lots of local companies that could likely make unique beery bathroom accessories.

1) Forget those little hexagonal tiles on the bathroom floor -- use bottle caps instead (caps from your brews, caps from brews you like, your mates' brews...whatever you think deserves to be enshrined there). Epoxy them into the floor (which should seal them air-and water-tight sothey don't rust).
2) Menu - play up your Scottish roots at breakfast. After a hearty night of beers, I can't think of anything better than a traditional breakfast: eggs, rashers, bangers, tatties, broiled tomato, baked beans, mushrooms, puddings...all of it. (And...as far as dinner goes, maybe we skip the haggis. Just saying.)
3) Guest-only beers - dream up a beer that you can only get as a guest at the hotel...something done in small quantities, draft only, limited run...it'd give you guys a chance to do something truly custom and truly unique

A few ideas
1) Board games added to each room as this is a key feature of any BrewDog bar - allowing for the typical epic friendly vibe
2) as well as the draught Punk IPA in the room (which will be legendary) a growler of your current favourite available BrewDog in your room - chilled and ready!
3) pool tables - except the currency is BrewDog bottle tops!

Some sort of delivery vacuum tube or train of that nature, to be able to order whichever beer you want from a bar area straight to your room immediately.

Dog sitting/walking service, assuming the hotel is dog friendly.

Nurses (someone eligible to perform) who can provide saline drips in the morning to battle dehydration/hangover.
Roel Cuijpers 20.12.2017 @ 6:55pm
I would love to see some geeky tech stuff:

- A beamed projection mapping on the hotel outside walls translating data form the brewing process into some random generated version of the brewdog logo, label design, or name generator for a new beer name. So depending on values, gained from the sensors inside the brewery it will select random words/letters from a social media input from the Brewdog community.

- Having the Brewdog logo made from glass (containing like a keg volume) filled with the latest brewed beer in the center of the bar. "Lock" it with a riddle, barking (yes from a dog) sequence or whatever. The person that unlocks the riddle gets to share the beer thats kept inside the big glass logo with his friends/other hotel guests.

- Build a secret passage to some kind of treasure room filled with nice brews.

- Once you sit down at a table, the table "knows" what your favourite Brewdog beers are and lets you know which ones are available at that very moment (technical interesting concept! :D)

Let me know if you guys need more of this kind of input. I'll be happy to do some brainstorming!
rcuijpers@icloud.com if you need me!

Have a nice Christmas!

I think it would be sweet to have a "vault" of rare Brew Dog beers in there that only hotel guest can purchase from. It would be sick to see some TNP or Hop Shot available. Also it would be cool to see the hotel have some one-off's or firkins of brews only available to hotel guess.

You could also have some UnTappd badges. People go ape-shit over UnTappd stuff.
anonymous 20.12.2017 @ 6:19pm
How about a beer fountain or waterfall... something like you’d see in some chocolate shops but on an epic scale.

Learn to brew sessions - Grainfather or something

A top dog food and beer pairing menu - some standard but also epic 7 course jobs with different beers for each

A reward scheme - linked to your shareholder number, where points are collected for all purchases (like Marriott) instead of Bronze, Silver, Gold & Platinum it could be dog breeds. Anyway the point is, beer gift on arrival depending on your level.

I think it would be really cool if you had food items made from spent grain from the brewery. When my boyfriend brews I make bread or muffins and usually love how they come out. I have a friend who makes dog biscuits, you could have for dogs coming to stay. I think it would be neat to show how beer is incorporated into everything by also using parts that most people wouldn't expect you to.

Themed bedrooms/apartments that invite you to discover the core elements of some of Brewdog's epic beers. E.g. Cocoa filled beds, Coffee bins shower, chocolate face treatment for the semi skimmed occultist bedroom. Grapefruit all over the place, in fridge, in shampoo, in juices, in salads for Elvis Juice bedroom. Red Hot Chili Peppers albums, Chili soups, Pepper plants for the spiced beer apartment. The idea is :"if brewdog beers were apartments, how would they look like"?? Or "imagine you are a bubble in a brewdog beer. How would you spent your short but amazing life , until you've been consumed?"
