COMING SOON: BREWDOG AUSTRALIA
Back in April, James and Martin made a series of announcements from the stage of the AECC in Aberdeen as part of their #PunkAGM2017 business update. All of them – and every one of our plans for the rest of the year – are built on a single foundation. We live or die by the quality of the beer in your glass. And in a week when Ohio-brewed Punk IPA hits the taps of craft beer bars in the US, we have another huge announcement relating to super-fresh BrewDog craft beer.
People of Australia – we are heading down under to build a brewery for you.
This is more than a statement of intent; it is a promise. Just as our US Equity Punk community are now enjoying home-brewed BrewDog beer, our Australian shareholders and customers will be able to do the same. We are committed to shortening the distance between ourselves and the people who enjoy our beer – and if that distance happens to be ten thousand miles? No worries.
We are now looking for the perfect site for BrewDog Australia – and you can help.
We’re after a kick-ass location for our brewhouse, and are narrowing our eyes on two areas on the east coast growing at lightning speed – Newcastle and Brisbane. We love the vibe of these cities and think either would be perfect for a BrewDog brewery/brewpub. If you know of somewhere suitable we can rock up to in these areas – or elsewhere in Australia – then we have the perfect person for you to get in touch with!
We’re hugely excited to welcome Zarah Prior back into the BrewDog family to spearhead our exploration of her home country. She will be hitting the streets of her native Oz in search of our new home, so before she checked in for that day-long flight we caught up with her in Ellon to get the lowdown on possible sites we are considering for BrewDog Australia. - An existing industrial site to redevelop with a built up facility of 2,000 - 4,000m²
- Or, a plot of land able to accommodate a build of that size with room for expansion
- A location with a great local community actively promoting urban renewal
- Councils or local authorities looking for new investment in their area
- Something unique that will make our brewery and taproom truly awesome!

Ahh well, nice to see it's finally happening.
Rated the worlds most liveable city, 2nd largest city in Australia and tipped to be the largest. Downside there are quite a few breweries and a lot of craft pubs.

Otherwise if you'd rather be closer to the city, Carrington would be your best bet.
Both state and federal governments have been focusing on bringing more investment and innovation to this area due to the fact that for multiple gernerations this region has been held up on the coal and power gerneration industries.
This year one of the major employers in the area Hazlewood power station closed directly effecting hundreds of people and indirectly thousands will experience some form of hardship.
Latrobe Valley but more importantly Morwell would benefit greatly from having a brewery and more importantly a destination for tourism based out of one of the old power stations or briquette factorys which was also recently closed. To utilize some of the old infrastructure would be be so striking and unique.

Ballarat currently has 5 craft breweries, Red Duck, The Athletic Club, Cubby Haus, The Rebellion Brewery and Dollar Bill. For a population of around 100K, that’s pretty good, but there’s more. Just this year, local maverick Broo beer announced that they are preparing to invest in a brand new $100 million macro brewery on the edge of town. We love our beer.
The State Government and local council are right behind beer in Ballarat, with $1.2 million dollars to implement a Craft Beer Centre of Excellence right here in the Victorian Central Highlands (that’s right, we’re highlands, with weather to match Brew Dog’s home…mostly). Ballarat also boasts a University that has one of the only brewing courses in the country, complete with a 600l micro-brewery! Head of Brewing, Dr. Peter Aldred is a world-renowned lecturer of brewing and beer judge. And speaking of judging, Ballarat also hosts Australia’s biggest beer festival, drawing thousands to sample beers from near and far every summer.
If that’s not enough, consider Ballarat’s heritage tourism that brings in tens of thousands of local and international tourists to experience Australia’s cultural heritage at Sovereign Hill. With the resultant tourism there is ample accommodation, bars, pubs and bottle shops focused on showcasing Ballarat as the self-proclaimed Beer centre of Australia. Check out the Coach House, Hop Temple and The Mallow, just a select few of the many retailers.

Awesome city, great location with proximity to the Hunter and additional weekend tourists, plus a culture and demographics suited to your market. Definitely the place to be!
Craft beer scene rocks, and, there's a definite possibility to expand the craft beer and brewing scenes here. There's not a huge amount of brewery supplies stores - bottledog would help to alleviate the pressure on that front. I'd also like to put myself forward as your brewer! :)
I vote somewhere like Wagga Wagga or Orange in NSW.
Wagga is halfway between Sydney and Melbourne and Orange is a few hours from Sydney.

Land is affordable, the workers are skilled, passionate and hard working.
Close to one of the biggest shipping port in Australia so you can move your beer around Australia easily and cheaply
Fastest growing area of Melbourne is the south eastern area: We also have the best weather for a brewery, it is not to hot down here.
I think you should setup home base in Melbourne then in 5 years build another brewery Newcastle to supply to NSW & QLD. Australia is ready for the change to quality beer. Very exciting new!

Newcastle is a good mid point from Brisbane and Melbourne too.
The area has a strong food beer and wine scene and is a weekend day trip for melbournians
Craft beer is popping up all over Sydney, Newtown being the best & from what I've heard they are trying to make Newtown the hub of craft beer in Australia!

Fit aboot Perth WA. Direct flights to London start next year. The local uni (ECU) has paired up with Aberdeen uni. Oil and gas is prevalent like the silver city and the locals will love ya. Plus it's hotter than the east coast!
